General Meeting Minutes
September 7, 2010 ~ 1:00 PM ~ Lecture Hall

PRESIDENT BROUGHT MEETING TO ORDER:

BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN ATTENDANCE:
               Pres. Peterson, VP. Otto, Treas. Whitehouse,    Directors: Booy, Brenaman, and Cordelli

               Motion to accept minutes from the last meeting. Motion 2696 Second 3624 - approved

TREASURES REPORT:
               The treasure presented the monthly report. Motion to approve 3636 Second 2835 - approved

                *We have lost money during the past month in the Lumber Room. Procedure will be tightened up for the sales out of the LR.
                * A computer system is being programmed to facilitate the sales in the Lumber Room.

THE PRESIDENT DISCUSSED RUMORS CIRCULATING PERIODICALLY IN THE SHOP. IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE SURE ISSUES ARE FACTUAL BEFORE THE “RADIO FREE EUROPE” PROCESS TAKES OVER AND CAUSES MISINFORMATION TO BECOME FACTUAL…….IN THE EYES OF THOSE SPREADING THE MISINFORMATION.


COMMITTEE REPORTS:
               ** Maintenance ----- Will now be completed on Friday afternoons. (Gene asks that members please fill out the forms Letting maintenance know what is broken)
               ** Training ---- Seven new members are in present class. Special classes have been offered. (See Frank Tucker)
               ** Lockers ---- Two lockers are available. (See Jim Booy) Plans are being considered to build new wooden lockers.
               ** Lumber ---- Lumber is coming in regularly. Special orders are possible. (See Tome Brenaman)
               ** Craft Fair ---- Bob Lorenzen will be coordinating the Fair.
               ** Entertainment ---- Lon Sweet reported the annual picnic is in Oct.
               ** Safety ---- Two accidents in the last month were discussed.
               ** Monitoring ---- Getting monitors has been a problem this summer.

HEY FOLKS -- TIME TO STEP UP AND HELP YOUR CLUB
               ** Suggestion Box ---- Marvin Otto reported that the suggestions have been addressed. (First aid supplies will be increased, special clamps have been ordered, pencil sharpener suggestion has no solution)

OLD BUSINESS
               ** We are now able to sell items on the Web Site. Thanks to Ernie Mills who is responsible for the web site.
               ** Thanks to the technology folks, we can now enter the shop by swiping our Rec cards.
               ** Thanks to those who worked hard on the shelves and display cases for the Village Store.

NEW BUSINESS
               ** President Peterson discussed possible equipment purchases that cost more than $1,000. These purchases require a vote of the membership an a quorum must be present. (planner head and a 12” jointer)
               ** The Village Store is asking members to return their sales items.
               ** The President asked for volunteers to help with special projects. Archie does have health issues that will keep him from coming to the shop. It is not known how long he will be absent.
               ** Max will be researching the needs for small tools that will be located in the crib. Please let him know if you have suggestions.
               ** A large ladder will be purchased for the lumber room. The ladder will have rails to help with the safety of those who insist on climbing to the top of the lumber room.
               ** Thanks to Marvin Otto for building a grandfather clock to be used as a raffle item. This will give us added revenue for the club. The clock material was a donation from a resident of Sun City West. The raffle drawing will take place at the Holiday Party in December.
 
OTHER ITEMS ** A motion by Mike Bell and seconded by Marshall Oates to change the time of the shop opening on Wednesday night. The motion was to set the time at 5:00pm - 8:30pm. Motion failed. Wednesday evening hours will be 4:00pm -8:00pm.

               ** It seemed apparent there was not other business……..Meeting adjourned
